The Turtle Island Quartet is the winner of the 2006 and 2008 Grammy awards in the Best Classical Crossover category. The group is best known for their fusion of classical technique with the American music traditions of jazz, rock, bluegrass, and folk, as well as the traditional ethnic musics of other nationalities. The Turtle Island Quartet will make its PCMS debut with guest mandolinist Mike Marshall, known widely for his virtuosity and versatility of style.

Program
The Turtle Island Quartet and Mike Marshall will be performing Solstice Celebration, a program featuring music of the solstice season from each of the performers' ancestral heritages. The audience will be treated to the music traditions of Christmas, Chanukah and Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, as well as contemporary selections associated with the season.
